Eric Chenowith is expert at playing man coverage

The biggest man in the sports insurance business never gave the industry a thought till the moment he was walking down the hall in the Kansas athletic department almost two decades ago. Back then, Eric Chenowith was entering his junior year as a projected NBA lottery pick. The 7-foot-1, 250-pound Californian was coming off a season in which he had led the Jayhawks in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, making honorable mention All-America.

His dad had told him to get an insurance policy, so when then-KU head coach Roy Williams told him to go talk to the head of Kansas’ compliance “and he’ll take it all from there,” the thought popped into Chenowith’s head, “What am I gonna do when the ball stops bouncing?”
